Solar Powered GeneratorThere are heaps of uses for solar powered generators. Things that can be powered are computers, mobile phones, lights, televisions, radios and other household appliances. A special application is for equipment used for medical purposes in instances where the power is cut off. When a household runs all these equipment together it will have a big influence on the power requirement and subsequently the size and cost of a solar power system. Modern technology has spoilt us and there are not many who can live without the daily luxuries of microwave ovens, laptops, stoves, fridges and play stations. This is where solar power comes in as back up when there is a power failure or as permanent supplier of electricity when there is no electricity grid in the area. When we purchase a solar powered generator the following factors should be taken into account to make up the specifications. Firstly determine how much energy is required. This is measured in watts. Add together all the wattage needed by the different equipment and appliances. The total watts required will have a direct influence on the number of solar panels and battery storage size. The purchasing price of a system is directly correlated to the size of the system. The size will also determine how mobile this system could be. Typically the watts required for a standard household will have a range of between 250 watt and 800 watt. Another requirement is that there should be a battery pack to support the power requirement for 24 hours. The supplier should be able to provide all the equipment necessary to make up a full system. From the solar panels to the wiring, inverters, batteries and other electrical switches. The supplier should also have the recommended installers or detailed installation instructions. And lastly don’t forget the very basic requirement and that is sufficient sun light available as source of energy! |
